I hate deadlines.
But I love Meg, she helped me out a lot on my portfolio for grad school apps. I don’t get to see her as often as I would like, but when I do, I always feel blessed to be in her presence.
Thinking about that lunch and feeling like I haven’t written a poem in forever reminds me of all the looming application deadlines and essays I have yet to write on top of the recommendation letter forms I have yet to send out. I hated school because of all the rapid-fire deadlines and meaningless essay writing, but for some reason I actually look forward to each and every essay I have to write now.
It’s like Meg said, an MFA isn’t like law school, it’s a gift to yourself as writer. I hope I can give myself this gift.
Go Jay! I believe in you!
Thanks for believing in me and for helping me believe in myself.
Good luck, dude! You got this! And if you need any help, give me a ring.
Thanks, I will definitely be giving you a ring.
