Today in class we did a 15 minute writing exercise in response to the racist treatment of the jena 6, and the scottsboro boys during the 1930s. Here is what I came up with in those 15 minutes…
cant escape claims of rape or a fight
might never get out jail even with a fight
bet system woulda let you off if yo face was white
black folks chances always be slim to none
white folks convict you of wrong when you aint did none
guess there aint nothing new under the sun
